Periodically, a step icon will need to flow to another step icon that is some distance away. There is no maximum length for a flow line, but long lines can be confusing to follow. Also, some flow lines may need to 'bend' more than once to ensure a readable path is followed. The Connect Point icon can be used to redirect or 'bend' a flow line so that it follows the most legible path.
