In the Call Setup screen, there is a CallerID property, which we are defaulting to the name of the organization; however, the telco says they're not getting that data at all (and hence not displaying it on the recipient's phone), and they've sent us the output that shows that no data has been received. Are we setting this value in the correct place? Or should we be looking elsewhere to set this property? We don't want to set the number, just the org. Here is feedback from the customer:

AT&T was able to trap the call but they are not seeing any caller-id coming from us. From what I understand, we need to send out station id and include the number and name in order for it to get passed along. The number should be nnn-nnn-nnnn. AT&T is inserting that number for us but, according to them, in order for calling party name to get passed along we need to send the number too.

Here is the trapped message from AT&T:

this is the proto monitor output of call...setup message is where you were expecting to
see more info i.e. calling no. and/or name

By "Call Setup screen", I assume you mean the properties of your Place Call Step.

In order to send Caller ID with your outbound calls (on ISDN), you'll probably have to set your "ISDN calling number plan" and "ISDN calling number type" fields. According to the trace from the telco, you've got zero in each of these fields, which is the default settings.

You will need to get the correct values from your telco. On one circuit we have here, we are able to send the calling number using the "DEFAULT" (zero) in both field. On a circuit for another client, we had to set the "ISDN calling number plan" to "ISDN" and the "ISDN calling number type" to "NATIONAL".

With your telco's assistance, you should be able to send the calling number. However, I have not been successful at sending a name instead of, or in addition to, the number. Nor have I been able to get TeleFlow's Wait For Call Step to receive the name from the Caller ID information. :( / :? / :x

If it helps you when talking to your telco, the numeric values of these Place Call properties are as follows:

ISDN Number Plan
DEFAULT = 0 (zero)
ISDN = 1 (one)
TELEPHONY = 2
PRIVATE = 9
UNKNOWN = 0

ISDN Number Type
UNKNOWN = 0
INTERNATIONAL = 1
NATIONAL = 2
LOCAL = 4

The number is already set. It's the name alone we wish to set.... would all of this still apply?

Thanks,
Susan

Maybe. It is obviously not affecting your ability to send the calling number. But, that is not your goal. You need to ask your telco. They are the ones who would know for sure.

However, you need to consider my other comment:

I apologize for being pessimistic. I was the developer who original built the NMS ISDN support into TeleFlow. I've already spent considerable time trying to sending a name instead of a number.

The fact that you've been able to get your telco's cooperation on this topic is farther than I've got with ours. If you learn anything more from them, I and other TeleFlow developers would appreciate it if you posted back here.
